PURBOND HBS 109 is a liquid one-component polyurethane adhesive which is particularly useful where highly durable bonds are required for timber applications. PURBOND HBS 109 is manufactured formaldehyde and solvent free.
COMMON USES
Window frames, doors and door frames, laminated timber where environmental resistance is required.
Has also proved useful for filling small cavities, such as the coving on bench tops, where the rapid development of a tough impact resistant gap filling foam is an advantage during manufacture.
BONDS Timber, including more difficult types such as Rimu.
ADVANTAGES
Structural Grade (AS/NZS 4364:2010)
One component product, no mixing.
Bonded parts can be processed after 25 minutes.
Contains no formaldehyde.
Formaldehyde Standard: JAIA (Japan Adhesive Industry Association) Independent Control Standard against Indoor Air Pollution.
PROPERTIES
The adhesive requires moisture or humidity to cure into a strong, non-brittle
adhesive film.
A slight foaming effect during curing is a normal side effect of the chemical reaction.
PREPARATION Surfaces must be clean and free from any adhesive-abrasive substances like oil, grease or release agents. For more details see the TDS.
APPLICATION METHOD Coated surfaces should be pressed together immediately but under no circumstances later than 4 minutes after the application of the adhesive. Minimum press time under conditions of 20°C, 65% relative humidity and 12% wood moisture content is 10 minutes.
